FAQ

Common questions

Do I need workers' comp if I only have part-time help?

In Massachusetts, employers with one or more employees, including part-time, generally must carry it. Other states set their own rules. We'll confirm what applies to you.

Doesn't my general liability cover my employees?

No. General liability covers injuries to customers and damage to their property. Workers' comp covers your own employees.

Why did I get a bill after my policy ended?

That's the premium audit. The carrier compares your actual payroll to the estimate. Uninsured subcontractors can also be added to your payroll, so collect certificates from every sub.

Can my premium follow my payroll?

Some carriers offer pay-as-you-go billing tied to the payroll you actually run. Availability depends on the carrier and your state.

I have employees in more than one state. Can you help?

Yes. We set up policies that list every state where you have employees.
